Clark County School District provides public education for all of the schools in Clark County, Nevada, Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City, and Mesquite. This district is the fifth largest district in the United States. It serves numerous schools including alternative schools and programs, but the district does not serve the private schools. The elementary schools provide education on a twelve-month basis because the enrollment has increased so much that they needed to divide the students into different sections. They have four of the five sections in school at one time. Because they have to provide education for elementary students this way, they also have to schedule the students who have brothers or sisters in middle school and high school so that their schedules would be convenient for the families. There isn't a university located in the Las Vegas, but in Paradise, which is three miles south of Las Vegas. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is the university that is in Paradise. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Medical School in close to the downtown area of Las Vegas. There are are campuses that are located in the Las Vegas area.
