Los Angeles Schools
The Los Angeles Unified School District, which consists of eight local school districts, is the second largest district in the United States. It has over 700,000 students, which is the largest enrollment in the state. Within each district, there are elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools. It serves almost all of Los Angeles and several nearby areas. Los Angeles also has public and private colleges and universities where students of different nationalities can attend and work toward the career of their choice. There are colleges for students interested in law, medicine, film industry, design and merchandising, architecture, and other types of careers. A popular public college in Los Angeles, California is UCLA, University of California, Los Angeles. The main campus is located in the Westwood neighborhood, which is a very wealthy area. Los Angeles also has community colleges. The most popular one is Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, which is a part of Los Angeles County, but another school district sponsors the college. The Los Angeles Public Library is also an important part of the educational system. It is one of the largest public systems in the world.
