New York Schools

New York City Department of Education, which is the largest system in the United States, manages the public school system in New York. About 1.1 million students attend the public schools in New York. There are over 1,200 primary and secondary schools, and New York has numerous libraries, universities, and research centers. In addition to the public schools, New York also has private schools and religious schools. Scientists conduct medical research and life science research in New York. New York also has the highest number of university students than any other city in the United States. The City University of New York is the third largest university in the United States. New York also has private universities such as Columbia University. Besides the schools, New York has one of the largest public libraries in the country. Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and the Rockefeller University are the two major biomedical research centers in New York.
