The Harrisburg School District provides educational services for the public schools. The Harrisburg public schools provide education for preschool through twelfth grade students. The Capital Area School for the Arts, which is located in Harrisburg, is an arts magent school. Students have to attend one session daily and then select one artistic area that they will focus on such as visual arts, film, music, dance, or theater. Harrisburg Area Community College has the following areas where students can pursue: business, medicine, law, the arts, education, and others. Besides the public schools, Harrisburg has private schools such as Harrisburg Christian School, which is a co-educational Christian elementary, middle, and high school. The school provides education for kindergarten children through twelfth grade. The Harrisburg University of Science and Technology High School is a regional math and science magnet school. The school prepares ninth grade students for degrees in science, engineering, and technology. The school also allows students to attned college classes for credit while they are still in high school. As well as the public schools in Harrisburg, there are numerous elementary schools, and seven high schools. The schools instill the Catholic beliefs in their students.
