- Middle School
Grade Level
- Mathematics
Subject
- 1 Hour
Length of Time
- Students will learn about common multiples between two numbers. They will also find the lowest common multiple. They will have a worksheet to do.
Description
- Students will learn:
* About Common Multiples
* About Lowest Common Multiples
Goals
- * Worksheet that I have included
* Pencils and Erasers
Materials Needed
- First, you will copy the worksheet so that each one will have a copy.
Then, you will explain common multiples. Then, you will give them an example of common multiples and the lowest common multiple.
Example to write on the board:
What are the multiples of 4 and 6?
4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40
6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60
The common multiples are the multiples that 4 and 6 have in common. The lowest common multiple is the multiple that is the smallest number that each number has in common.
In the example above, the common multiples are 12, 24, and 36.
The lowest common multiple is 12. It is the smallest number that 4 and 6 have in common.
After you have explained how to do this, then you can give them the worksheet.
Worksheet - Common Multiples
