  • Description

  • In this lesson, students will learn about Roman Numerals.
  •
  • Goals

  • Students will learn:

    * About Roman Numerals

    * How to solve problems
  •
  • Materials Needed

  • * Worksheet I have included in this lesson

    * Pencils and Erasers
  •
  • Procedure

  • First, you will copy the worksheet I have included in this lesson.

    Then, you will explain to the students about the different Roman Numerals.
    I = 1 V = 5 X = 10 L = 50
    C = 100 D = 500 M = 1,000

    You will also explain that when you place a smaller number in front of a larger number, you will subtract.
    For Example: IV = 4

    If you place a larger number in front of the smaller number, you will add.
    For example: VI = 6

    After that, you will write examples on the board so that the students will know how to solve the problems in their worksheet.

    Examples:

    XII = _______ IV = ______

    XV = ________ LC = ______

    After you explain the examples, then you will pass out the worksheets to have them work independently.
