  • This lesson is about writing numbers to hundreds in expanded form.

  • Students will learn:

    * To write numbers in expanded form to hundreds

  • Procedure

  • First, you will copy the worksheet so that each student will have a copy.

    Then, you will write draw a chart on the board to show the students what they will do on their worksheet.

    For the number 349, you can draw a chart to show:

    Hundreds Tens Ones

    Then, you will place the numbers in the right place value.

    Hundreds Tens Ones
    3 4 9

    The value of the 3 is 300. There are 3 hundreds, which equal 300.
    The value of the 4 is 40. There are 4 tens, which equal 40.
    The value of the 9 is 9. There are 9 ones, which equal 9.

    Expanded form of 349 = 300 + 40 + 9

    After that, you will pass out the worksheet so they can work on them independently.
