  • ICS is the best private Christian School in the city of Orange. I say this because I was a student and my kids go there now. They have an excellent academic program, utilizing primarily A Beka curriculum. For those of you who know school curriculum many private schools do not use private school curriculum because of the expense, but instead get other 'cheaper'curriculum. However, ICS holds themselves to a high standard and you can see tha the money you spend is going directly to your child's education and care. They are non denominational, so your child is taught everything from a Christian perspective, but they are not associated with a church. Tons of after school activities. Their daycare program before and after school is excellent. My daughter begs me to go to daycare so she can play Dance, Dance Revolution against the staff. How cool is that! They have homework room, lots of physical exercise and the school is even committed to healthy snacks in the vending machines. The chapel programs on Thursday are great, the principal pulls out a guitar and has all the kids singing and clapping songs. All of the teachers are dedicated to their jobs. They don't make a lot of money, but they love what they do! There is tons of parent involvement, but this isn't a school that makes you feel guilty for not being available to volunteer. They view fundraising and volunteering as purely optional. Also, they are a great place to put your child if you are a single parent or have an unusual situation since they work with everyone individually. They also have children with special needs mainstreamed into the classroom. This is good for kids with special needs but is good for the 'normal' kids as well since they're taught early on that everyone is special, unique and designed by God. Academic performers are held to a high standard-everyone is encouraged to work at their best at all times. They encourage a love of learning, reading and research. Teachers use every opportunity to teach. Oh yeah, they don't send home too much homework either...big plus for the kids and the parents :) (GardenJen, 01/02/2009
