I am thoroughly perplexed by this review. Firstly, the owner of the school has served on the American Montessori Society (AMS) Board of Directors, runs one of the largest AMS accredited teacher training programs in the US, lectures internationally and is generally respected as one of the leaders in Montessori. I happen to know all this because, in addition to sending two of my children to this school, I also took classes at MTEC (the teacher training center the owner runs).

If you did speak with her and come away with the impression that "she doesn't know anything about early childhood development," I suspect that your assessment has some serious problems. And if she claimed she "doesn't know what separation anxiety" is, she was probably engaging you in a questioning of your buzz word. That the teachers aren't bubbly, greeting parents, and catering to parent anxiety about leaving their children at school is a mark of their commitment to TEACHING. The Montessori curriculum is focused on the child, not on the latest buzz words and "selling" to parents.
