  • I was reluctant to put my children in private school and even more reluctant to put them in a Montessori school because of bad experiences I've had in the past. My husband had his heart set on it, though, so I agreed to give our oldest two a year at Eton. The social and academic changes in my children were unmistakable. They have thrived and blossomed. Four years later, we've started our fourth child at this school and wouldn't want them to go anywhere else! One of my favorite moments was being out to lunch with my 1st grader and having her explain quarks and subatomic particles to me. The looks we got from the Microsoft employees at the next table were priceless! The teachers are very approachable, and welcome the parents into the classroom for birthday celebrations, occasional lunches with the children, and Montessori moments (parents can sign up to visit their children in the classroom to see what they've been working on.) The teachers are so patient and communicative with the children, with such good results, that I've found myself adopting many of their methods at home. The parent council (similar to a PTA) and the family functions at the school keep the parents active and involved with the school. The new director (he started in 2012) is also very approachable and I think he will do great things with this school. I would highly recommend Eton to anyone who asked!

  • I have the complete opposite experience from the other 2 reviews I read here. I have two children in Eton and both are in different classes. Both have very different personalities but both have excellent experience in school so far. I can't say enough good things about the teachers. They are so knowledgeable and genuinely care for the students. Parent-teacher conferences are conducted twice a year to discuss goal and expectations (academic and social goals, as well as any other goals) and the teachers are always contactable via email or scheduled meetings to discuss any issue. Since the students progress at a different rate, classroom does not have a curriculum per se (they have discussion topics that they cover but how well a child can read and count can vary widely amongst the student)and sometimes parents can feel a little lost on what their child is learning in school. I personally think this is when the parents need to be proactive and communicate with the teachers if you feel you need more information. The teachers are always there to clarify and one of my children's teachers handpicked books for him to bring home to read because he was starting to read and she wants to make sure he has enough appropriate levels of books for him to read at home too. That is the kind of commitment that I have witnessed many, many times at Eton!

If you want to have a lifelong learner, who is always curious about things and excited about new knowledge, Eton is the school for your child!

  • Our experience at Eton has been excellent. Our children love going to school. We love the small student to teacher ratio and the expertise of the teachers. We thought about leaving after 5th grade, but we kept our oldest child there because we knew it was the best place for him to grow and bloom during his pre-adolescent years. We celebrate this choice as he got into the high he desired and is doing excellent. Thanks Eton for preparing our children to succeed in life!

  • Eton School, Bellevue WA has been a very disappointing experience for our child. Our concerns include the lack of classroom management, remote administration, very large class sizes, lack of facilities, inadequate security, lack of parent/teacher association or governors, low academic expectations, ineffective language program, expectations for work not clearly communicated and so on. It might be ok for some children/parents but we expected a good education for our child in return for high fees. Very disappointing.

  • Eton School of Bellevue, Washington has been an unforgivable and utter waste of time for our children not to mention the $12,000+ annual tuition.

One example for 2006-2007 (among many of the negative parent experiences) was that a teacher with a lack of leadership, class management and teaching skills diagnosed the majority of her class of 20+ previously tested, advanced students as having ADHD, learning and mental disabilities.

A competent headmaster responsible for school results would know how her teachers, students and parents were doing. Total lack of leadership by the headmaster who has lost touch with reality. Finger on the pulse? Concern with childrens' learning and parent satisfaction? Not here.

Not the Montessori or Blue Ribbon school you remember or expect regardless of the hype. Not run like a service business which is responsible to deliver educational excellence.
