  • Santa Monica Montessori School is an excellent school to work in. The principal really inspires a love of teaching and encourages us all to bring the best out of the students. After teaching for many years in public schools, it was such a breath of fresh air to teach in a beautiful Montessori environment. The principal and teachers believe in the method and implement it. It is a joy to teach at this school and would gladly send my own children here.

  • I went to Santa Monica Montessori from third to eighth grade and it was without a doubt the most miserable schooling experience I could have ever endured. I didn't learn anything of any use when I transferred to a public high school, having to play catch up in all academic areas (this is typical of all students who go to middle school there, you are left completely unprepared). The teachers were terrible, many of them not trained to teach the subject or age group that they are in charge of. Not to mention I was gossiped about regularly by teachers to my peers, and after I left the school the same teacher continued to talk poorly of me to my younger sister. I refused to let my younger sister go to middle school there, she left to go to Lincoln Middle School where she claims to be much more satisfied with her social and academic life. It is a joke of a school.

  • My daughter attends pre-school at SM Montessori and it is a wonderful school environment, with educated caring teachers and extra programs such as piano, ballet and gym, as well as after care programs such as Spanish and cooking classes. The environment is calm, cultured and educational and our daughter is thriving - she is only 3 years old, but came home the other day knowing about Africa and the continent we live in is North America! Excellent school with excellent teachers! I have read some of the negative reviews and I believe they may be written by children as a prank as they are full of grammatical errors and lack foundation. Please be weary of prank reviews.

  • Not pleased with the principle and school. The principle is very rude, and acts like she does not care about the school and she is never around or responsible, as she refers her duties to someone else. Had to take my kid out of 5th grade after a week. The teachers are okay. Some of the kids curse and the teachers and principle are aware. I do not think the education or social foundation is right for my child.

  • New management. Teachers are very
nice and knowledgeable. Montessori curriculum with a lot of freedom. Very nice setting in an old home or something. Lots of trips and international fair, winter festival, family fun. It is small and very human. You know people care here.

  • The teachers there are unfair and terrible. The teachers there get into the children's social life and try to take control over it. The main problems at that school are the teachers and the unfairness. At that school some kids get special treatment and the others are treated unfairly. so if you want your children in a healthy fair environment do not send your kids to this school.

  • the teachers there are irresponsible, unfair and manipulative, my eleven year old son says that everything in the school is not for the benefit of their education, instead of work they do board games, instead of homework they do "play time" a student council was established, thinking it wouldn't take away anytime from my child education i agreed until i found out that it took 2 hours out of my childs education time every friday, my child also learned a few new words in a case i thought would be beneficial until i realized they were all dirty bad words. Do not put your children threw a terrible unstable learning environment

  • This is a nice place for young children. But don't expect much from the principal. We found her to be scattered and off-site a great deal of the time. For the most part the teachers are caring and dedicated. But my daughter did not get a strong foundation in the middle school.
