  • It's sad, that for many people the negative points about this school, that are present everywhere, are the majority of the ones that are rememmbered. Is this because is it Christian-based? It seems that everything Christian is scrutinized in today's society to the point that all Christians are expected to be perfect. If not, they are called hypocryts. I have both good and bad memories from this school. I'm 42 now and attended 4th through 8th grade. When I was 25, my favorite teacher from 7th grade flew cross country to marry my wife and I. We haden't stayed in touch over those years before my marriage, but through the family of the church, he heard that my Uncle, who was going to marry us, had unexpectedly died. This is why he came. He remembered me fondly, as I said, he was my favorite. For any of you that may not know, that wish to; this is the type of person you will typically find in the Church that sponsors this school. Yes, even my teacher had his faults.

  • This is my opinion.
It would be alright...the building is small and cute, the uniforms are convincing and the "Christian basis" is a good one, but what really goes on inside the school seems to be anything but Christian.

I attended the school from the beginning of my elementary days, all the way through middle school. If you look at other reviews online, they will tell tales of unqualified, uncooperative teacthers and staff. That is an understatement. In my years of attending SCA, I saw students get (what I would consider) emotionally tourmented. Teachers gossip like students and become excessively involved in small-school drama. Teachers may be good at teaching one thing, but lack in another. There is a huge pattern of blaming everything on the students. Almost the whole staff will gang up on one student instead of trying to get to the root of the problem.

Every once in a while, you will find a good teacher. Everyone loves Ms. Gibson, and I am no exception, but she is probably one of the only ones (along with Ms. Reed?) and that's the reason she has been there for so long. If you look at the school's history, they have been chaning teachers and staff constantly throughout the past 8 years or so.

With all this negative stuff I've said, I think I must add that the friends I made at SCA have remained good friends, even as we all start to go into college. Since it's such a small school, I believe the students make family-like connections. Again, the school would be a very, very good school if everyone in charge was more like Ms. Gibson and Ms. Reed. I think it's OK, maybe even beneficial for you to send your children there up until the 4th or 5th grade (my experince was fairly decent at those points), but once they start going into their pre-teen stages, I would pull them out as quickly as possible.
