  • Lighthouse is a much different school than I see described here. 5 out of 6 graduates in 2011 are going to Bible Colleges like Hyles-Anderson College, Pensacola Christian College, Golden State Baptist College and Heartland Baptist College. We are looking forward to a bigger class in 2012. Praise The Lord.

  • I learned to fake it to make it through that hell! I also had to drop out of school after I got out, the only focus in school for me was making sure I had great cursive! Come on! If I didn't perfect the art of making the loop on the T skinny in 3rd grade, why is it such a big deal when I'm 16? Doesn't everyone write on a keyboard now anyways? I will never set a foot in a church after what I was put through at that place. My mother sent me there 10 years ago because I was a heroin addict. Yeah, It didn't work! I went right back to it after a few months of acting like a brainwashed stepford child! Just let go! You just have to let go sometimes. If it's meant to be, they will come around. I have a great husband and two beautiful girls now, but I still have nightmares about that place. DON'T DO IT!

  • This "school" is in horrible condition. Sewage leaks into the surrounding property. The buildings are infested with bugs, mold and mildew. The staff is uneducated and rude. Does this sound like somewhere to send a troubled teen??

  • This school was, is, and always has been horrible. I went home after being at the school for 3 years and was home for 3 months during which time I was very sick with whooping cough, triggering asthma. When I was sent back to the school, they took my doctor prescribed inhaler away from me and told me that I never had asthma before and it must be punishment for my sin. If I would just stop sinning I wouldn't have asthma. I stayed until I finished all my high school courses and then didn't care anymore. I refused to stand up from a chair so I was dragged out of the chair and when I defended myself I was sat on and restrained.

  • To answer the above persons question, YES it is THAT BAD. I entered LCA in 2007 and to sum it all up, the place is a living nightmare. Luckily I convinced my mother to pull me out after 6 months at the place, and I returned 10x worse than before. They brainwash the kids, abuse power they are wrongly presented, shove biblical nonsense (far past what you can imagine) down their throats with no tolerance, mentally and physcially abuse any child who doesn't share their religious beliefs, have students physcially restrain others by sitting on them (although anyone who's been the victim of this will tell you, much more than that is done when no one appears to be looking), manipulate, the list goes on much farther. They shoved and scrubbed ivory soap in my mouth many times although I informed them I was allergic, and didn't stop until they had made my braces rip up my entire mouth and blood covered my face and neck. The soap entered the cuts and my mouth swelled to the point I resembled donald duck, I couldn't speak, for days I cringed in pain from the slightest facial movement. They responded by saying I was faking the pain, and they switched to liquid soap instead which had me gagging and choking to the point of blackouts. That's just a taste of the good ole times at LCA.

...oh and academics? I didn't start school for the first 2 months because they merely 'forgot', and had me face deep in the Bible or getting slammed on the floor during school hours. The 4 months of ridiculously easy work that I DID do, was 6th and 7th grade work, and when I left they credited me for completing a full year of 8th grade work. ( I was far behind in school). Later entering highschool I was screwed, and eventually had to drop out due to being far behind what my school records displayed.

So by all means, SEND YOUR KID! Let me know how it all works out.

  • I was a former student at Victory Christian Academy in Ramona California in1989 for 6 months. They were the worst six months months of my life... I am now 37 and still dealing with the effects of having lived in that horrible place. The cruelty and abuse is something that will always and forever be a part of me. It however, does not define me. If you are considering this school please DON"T send your child there unless you want to kill a part of her soul forever (i am not being overly dramatic). There was absolutely nothing Christian about this place. Reading from the bible, cruelty, coldness towards young impressionable young girls and acting like fervent wacko does not a Christian make. Hypocrites.............

  • This Christian school had many inconsiderate rules. I can write a extremely extensive paragraph about them. however, i am going to put all that aside and focus on the lack of academic importance in this school. during my stay there i was not made aware of the changes in the world. Whether politically or environmentally. During my stay in the school the only important goal i was taught to believe is the importance of getting people to heaven. I realize my ignorance after i left the school, now I am trying to improve my G.P.A. so i can go to a good university because my grades drastically decreased in the school. if you would like your child to be intelligent and socially aware of our world now, please consider a school which stresses importance on education rather spiritual afterlife. • I attended both Victory Christian Academy and Genesis by the Sea. It has been 7 years and i still have nightmares about getting sent back. Their brainwashing techniques and manipulation will stay with me for the rest of my life. If you desperately need an intervention with your teen girl there are many options and i encourage you to seek out other resources. I have a little girl of my own now and i could not EVER put her through a hell like VCA or GBS.

  • I went to VCA from March 1999 to June 2000. Its ben 10 years sense I left Jay Fl behind but I still think about it often and and always with a bad taste in my mouth. As a girl in the school I did my best to stay out of trouble so that i could go home as soon as possible but always lived in fear that i would get in trouble and at times i did. Punishment for girls ranged from writing hunderds of dematets, be forces to sit in a hallway under supervision for hours with no food and you were not aloud to speak. Some girls were even sat on. other punishments included being put "on buddy" which means all of your freedom is taken away. you can't even go to the bathroom without someone watching you. While i was at VCA became sick with a bladder infection and it was very painful. when i told the staff they only gave me 2 alive. i had to write a letter to my parents which took over a week to get mailed, telling them what kind of pain i was in and when they got it, they called the school and demanded that i was taken to the doctor. The staff said no because i was going on a home visit in a week and they told my mom to take me than. my mother had to threaten to se before they took me. when i got to the doctor they tested me and it turned out that the infection spread to my kidneys and the doctor asked me how long i had been sick. i told the truth and said a week and a Mrs Betty (the staff woman who came with me) said that i was lieing and it had only been a few days. If this is the kind of place you want to send your kid, than the truth is that you dont love them!!!

  • I was sent to this "school" for a year in 2004. It was the worst year of my life and memories of it still haunt me to this day. My mother regrets ever sending me there. They brainwash you, break you down, torture you emotionally and physically. Please, if you love your child, do not send them.

  • The academics are extremely terrible. You teach yourself and if you have a question or need help with a problem sometimes the staff cannot answer it. The only thing they teach you is the Wrath of GOD. There is no counseling for troubled girls. Just sermons on how bad you are and how you need to repent or you are going to hell. Over and Over. I passed all my state testing before I went there. I did a year and a half of school there and when I got out and took testing I failed miserably. Please Do Not send your Kids there.

  • This school is a form of hell in disguise. The staff abuse the students in many various ways. I was a student there from February 2003-June 2004 and the things I witnessed and experienced there will forever affect my life negatively. They use the disguise of being a "rehabilitative school of the Lord" as a way to verbally, mentally, emotionally, and physically abuse the girls in there. Any parent who is looking for a way to help their wayward child, I beg of you, find another way. This school does not help your child, it hurts them. You will find that after at least a year of your child being in this school and at least $200,000 of your money down the drain, your child has done nothing but been turned into a frightened, agoraphobic, shallow shell of the beautiful child they once were; and the memories of the horrors they experienced in the school will never fade.

  • It all depends on what you want your daughter to be like when she returns. If brainwashed & unable to re-adapt to society for a least a few months works well with you, feel free. I suggest doing some additional research before you decide. These links should get you started:

  • This school hides under the guise of being a christian school.

There is nothing Godly or loving about the way the students are treated there.

I would prefer jail or death over victory christian academy.
