  • Our child spent 3 years at Arlyn. To say we made a mistake is a under statement. We saw new teachers and staff every year. sometimes people leaving midyear. The level of teaching is low. An the school is run by the principal with little to no input by the staff. The therapists are subpar and the social tactics are strange. Once your child is enrolled it is hard to get them out and back to their local school. We got the feeling that it is run with low funding and the facilities are dirty and smell. The furniture appears to have been picked out of the garbage. I would not recommend this school. It set our child back.

  • As a parent, I looked at several schools. Arlyn is one of the best schools in the area. The staff is dedicated to the students and works with the family to ensure the student is achieving their academic potential as well as growing as a young adult. Often what helps us most, puts us out of our comfort zone which is not a pleasant experience. It means the staff is doing their job to promote knowledge and self esteem in the students as well a a sense of giving back to others. The teachers know their subjects and work with students until a lesson is mastered. There are many resources and opportunities to learn creatively at Arlyn. As a parent, I am sure of my teen's safety and secure in the knowledge that he will learn something new each day he goes there. Thank you Arlyn staff for your dedication and attention to each student.

  • Arlyn changed my life. As cliche as it sounds I was a rambunction little sixth grader that had never gotten an A in his life and had been suspended 5 times in a year. Every adult before that told me I was ruining my "glowing potential", which I guess they based on my test scores, but Arlyn helped me feel comfortable, and taught me how to work with authority figures instead of fighting with them. In a couple years I was ready to go to back to a normal high school, and they made transition easy and rewarding. I am now a freshman at Yale University, and I still cherish every moment of being in that school. Ryan and Amy were the best!!!!!!

  • This school landed me back in the psychiatric ward. I had to beg and plead to go back to the 'normal' highschool--and not because I felt uncomfortable being in a supposedly 'theraputic' setting, but because the staff, teachers, et al at Arlyn were so pretentious, unkind, and unhelpful, not to mention the fact that there was NO teaching going on. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. Thankfully my parents, psychiatrist, and therapist all agreed with my desicion to return to the 'normal' high school, and therefore I only had to spend the summer and one semester at this place.
