  • I did not highlight any apples above...that was an error. Clearly I do not give them 5 apples. But I will give them one, for the assistant in the kindergarten who showed our son love.

  • We joined this community for our child because we too were Waldorf educated as children! Thank goodness we were already sold on the strengths of this education because our child had the worst possible kindergarten experience imaginable. From week two the teacher singled him out, shamed him in front of his peers and overlooked any of his fine qualities. The most difficult thing to accept now, is that we let her do this! It was all so underhanded and cunning. I'm embarassed that we were so blindsided, and I am angry that the administration still stands behind her decision to ask our child to leave the school even though this teacher was fired for inpropriety. I will always wonder if she followed this path with our child because I took a wrong turn into the wrong driveway while going to the bank one day and there she was all snuggled up in a truck with a man who was not her husband and my son called out to her in joy (she hid her face)?!? Was it just safer to dismiss the family? If you choose Chicago Waldorf, do not ever turn your back because you trust in their words. They ARE NOT Waldorf...working from the higher path of the human being. Our whole experience was based on a dishonest cover-up, and our decision to trust wasted a very important year in our child's development while damaging him emotionally.

  • This school does not tolerate other points of view. Their academics are weak, particularly in math and science. The administration is incompetent and does not follow their own policies and procedures.

  • This school is disorganized and chaotic. The administration is inexperienced and incompetent. As much as they say they have your child's best interests at heart, they do not. All they care about is their philosophy and have no respect for the parents or other points of view.

  • The Chicago Waldorf School provides a wonderful, well-rounded education for our kids. Their robust curriculum emphasizes critical thinking and creativity (instead of memorization and â€"teaching to the test”). The dedicated and talented teachers get to know our children as individuals, and help them grow intellectually, socially and physically so they can become happy, engaging and engaged adults who can explore and apply the full range of their talents. There is a very high level of parent involvement, and a strong and supportive community that surrounds the school. We could not imagine sending our children to any other school – and we have done a lot of investigation of the public and private options on the north side. No other school provides such a broad and challenging curriculum in a nurturing environment.

  • I think this school is wonderful in so many ways. Particular areas include the combination of arts and sciences for a more in-depth level of undeerstanding of the subjects, the emphasis oon nature and the world around us and the social service work that the high schoolers do. By the time the students get to high school, they are able to do independent study research and presentations that are beyond most of what O learned in college. Both my kidds have thrived in the nurturing environment. I would highly recommend this school to anyone wanting their children to turn out well-rounded, socially aware and capable.
