This is the best school that I have ever seen! (including private). Rarely do you see the kind of commitment and dedication that is present in the staff and faculty of Oakland Charter. The performance testing results speak volumes. Ranking seventh out of ALL Orange County schools for science FCAT testing as well as six years of A ratings. The Principal is very caring and supportive of students, parents, and teachers alike. She personally knows each child. The few parents that I have ever heard complain do little parenting and expect it all to be done for them by the school. I've seen their kids at school events and it tells the story. To provide a private school atmosphere as a public school is impressive. The "required" hours by parents are negligible and many parents do double or more than double the volunteer hours because we see what a success it all has become. Our PTO just raised and donated $24,000 for technology improvements. Values and citizenship are important in the foundation that is instilled in the students. As with most things in life; you get out of it what you put into it. The grass is always greener where you water it yourself! Get involved.
