  • I think Pelham is a great school. I returned to Shelby County a few years ago and only have great things to say about the school system. My son has loved it from day one. However, I do have a problem with the brief description of the school seeming that I have paid full price from my sons lunch since he has been in school. So maybe we shouldn't put our great school in such a negative category. I'm pretty sure we can come up with a better description or something a little positive. PLEASE DON'T CATEGORIZE OUR KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is a very nice shelby county school ,but i didn't give them an a plus because it isn't as clean as it could be but other than that i would recommend that you let your child go here

  • I graduated from Pelham High. I was a single teen mom, and Pelham High instilled in me the need to graduate. They were helpful, and the Teachers, were standing behind me, even when I was ready to give up. They helped me to provide the best possible life for my son and for me. There are things that the school could control better, but all in all, I got a great education, and the strength to keep going. If it was not for the administration and the Teachers at Pelham High, I dont know where I would be now. I think you have to look at all aspects of this school. As a parent I am sure that you are frustrated, but as a Student that graduated from there, I think it is one of the best. We moved every two years, I had been in several schools in several states, but that was one that I fought to stay in. Thank you PHS!

  • Pelham is one of the worst schools I have been involved and I have dealt with schools in 3 states. The teachers for the most part have no ethics and act like they are the bullies on the play ground. They make up the rules as they go along with no regard for school published policy. The drug problem at school gets worse every single day.

The administration is the worse of any I have seen. They don't respond to parents phone calls or e-mails. They can never admit that they made a mistake even when it is proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Their lack of ethics, morals and leadership at the heart of the problems at Pelham High.

The only positive thing about the school is it has a wonderful band program where the kids are held to high standards by the director.
