  • While the area is nice, this school lacks the funding to hire quality teachers. Kids will usually get new or "certification in progress" teachers. Alot of the responsibility for making sure the kids learn or behave is left to the parents. The teachers are like consultants who brief the kids on the subjects and the kids/parents have to do all the legwork. When it comes time to grade you're expected to do well when they just "threw information out at you" and you're expected to know it. For example they'll criticize your handwriting skills when they taught you handwriting in 1st or 2nd grade for a few months. They'll criticize your writing when they tell you what to do by using a "formula". It's like a teacher I had in college used to say "They'll lecture you all semester about what is a pencil, and the question on the test is "describe a pen"." The lack of quality education coupled with all the changes in the public schools in Elizabeth, I imagine this school can expect declines in enrollment and go the way of many Catholic schools unless it miraculously improves.
