  • If the competence of VHS's administrative staff is anything to judge by, the school is a complete failure.

  • School is what you make it! Parents need to become active in their children's education and the children themselves need to make High School a positive experience as well.
I graduated from Venice High School, there was kissing in the hallways 30 years ago! The pot smoking happened out back. I chose not to engage in the pot smoking and kept the kissing to a minimum!
Don't feel sorry for your daughter. You can help her make wise choices and she can get involved with activities and soon all that "Kissing" will fade away and the pot smokers will too.

  • To the parent complaining about her child attending VHS and seeing kids smoking pot or kissing in the hallway - this is 2009, and back when I went there over 10 years ago, kids weren't much different. Last time I checked, parents were responsible for their children's behavior and molding them to avoid being THOSE kids. I don't know a high school in the world where teenagers don't kiss, that's pretty unrealistic. That said, my experiences at VHS were actually predominately positive. I went on to college and grad school and my senior year in particular was a positive experience. The school offered me a lot of opportunities to express my creativity, I hope they can continue to provide kids with those types of resources.

  • My daughter is in 9th grade and she said theres lots of kids kissing in the hallway and that she has seen lots of kids smoking pot! Wonderful school! I feel sad that she has 3 more years to go there.
