I recently moved to the area. One day I went to the school to bring my daughter lunch, just to surprise her and all I heard were the adults on duty in the lunch room fussing at the children. Then I was told I could not bring my daughter anything from the outside for lunch. My daughter brings her lunch to school so I figured whether it be from home or a restaurant, its still outside food. Getting a call back from anyone is impossible. I had to call back mulitple times for the same issues. I never seen a school were rap music is promoted on school events.
Most of the teachers try as much as they can to educate the kids but the school overall is not good. Out of 1079 middle schools in all of GA the school ranks as 1064 based on CRCT scores. They did not even meet AYP, nowhere near. Alot also has to do with where these kids come from and their home environment. Many parents don't show up for PTA meetings, parent teacher conferences or school events therefore how can they support their kids education and and what type of raising do they do if they're not even getting involved. Many just come up to the school cursing if something goes wrong with their child instead of seeing first what the problem is. I really feel I have done an injustice to having my child go to this school for all 5years. He's extremely smart but I feel as though these students aren't being challanged and prepared for middle school or highschool and they're not being taught on a high level compared to other districts or even other schools in the same district. I was young when I moved in this area and needed somewhere to stay fast and it didn't dawn on me to check into all the school information but now that I'm older and moving soon the school, it's quality and education standards mean everything. If you can help it please don't put your child into this school. If you want them to be challanged, well educated and be taught on a high level compared to the rest of the state and the country then do your research and go elsewhere.
