  • I am not quite sure if anyone will read this, but I believe that much progress needs to be done at LaFayette and in our public school system as a whole. I graduated in '97 and was among the top of my class, I took AP courses, and I chose difficult courses above electives. Seems like I chose well right? Wrong. I was totally unprepared for college and have had to work my tail off. Any success I have is not reflective of the school but rather my parent's encouragement and family's prayers. I think more emphasis needs to be placed on academics and less about passing a silly test so that the school system is ranked well. Student's futures come above school board egos. My other complaint is that as a whole teachers brand which children will succeed in elementary school. I saw way to many children get left behind that I thought were bright and too many get carried along because the teacher was friends with the child's parents. That is my soapbox for today.
