  • I have had the opportunity to observe the many challenges that face the staff and students at the Tazwell County Safe School. First of all "God Bless" the staff members who attempt to meet the needs of these "at risk students" given the minimal financial means to do so, as far as salaries, curriculum materials, and the latest computer technology. From my observations, one must ask the alumni of this school whether or not it meet their needs. I would wager that 60% of those alumni would indicate that their educational experience at the safe school turned them around in a positive way. God Bless those staff members who played an integral part in helping those students to be able to do so.

  • The School does not challenge these students and the academic cirriculum is below average! The School is in the dark ages with no computers or internet access. If you want to see cuts in the illinois education system take a tour of the school. Children have to bring their own lunch and or walk to local gas station for food and drinks. All children deserve a good education, these students have had problems but they still deserve an education and proper guidance.
