  • I have four children that I can claim as my own and raised a few others. My youngest is now going to Union as did my second oldest. I have seen some incidents of racial issue but have heard parents from other schools tell similar stories. I personally have dealt with school systems in 3 states and several counties. I have never seen a school that gets the learning results that Union does while helping the kids to feel as comfortable with being friends as they can, regardless of race. I have always felt the staff does a great job of including the parents. Those parents who choose to not be involved are the ones whose children choose not to behave.

  • In response to the former student who reviewed this school...there is bullying at this school every day. The reasons kids do not get held back is called social promotion. My son was passed from first grade on and should not have been. He does not read well, and now in 8th grade he still cannot subtract, multiply or divide. He can barely add. This education system is a joke.

  • Many of the things that go on at this school are racially bias. I complain about children that cannot behave and am told that I have to understand their racial background. I was told that black children are loud because their tv is loud and everyone at their house is loud, they don't go to bed until very late, so they are tired in the morning. Nothing is ever done...a child brought a knife to school, there fights way to often, even in the classroom. There have been times when teachers have had to go into the hallway to yell for help. Learning time is wasted because kids cannot behave and I am just supposed to understand...WRONG.

  • Union School is a great school. They have older grades help younger ones during lunch and I have never seen bullying at Union. Once I lost an expensive item and another student returned it to the office. Most students get along with each other great. Union has also gotten recognition on their ISAT scores. Also I have not been in a class where somebody did not get to go to the next grade level. ^^

  • at a school with a 50/50 race ratio
why does one fourth grade class have 3 white students and the rest black, while the other fourth grade has 3 black students and the rest white? is this integration or segregation?
