  • I am not usually one for racial excuses, but I reluctantly agree with the first rater. My daughter transferred to this school in the middle of the school year because I am in the military, of course. They were about two weeks ahead of the school that she transferred from and were trying to fail my child for the year without trying to catch her up. Also, their style of instruction is not condusive to allowing the parents to be prepared ahead of the student. At my child's first school, we knew weeks in advance what the teachers were going to be doing for that term and were able to find extra learning materals before hand.

  • I have two children enrolled in Scott and have been through other schools myself, and I have got to say that I really like this school. One of my children is special needs and where in other schools, I would constantly fight with the staff to assist me with my son. This school has properly identified where his weaknesses are and have tailored his lesson plans to fit his needs. He is a flourishing, bright young man. The staff for my other child has been professional, honest and upfront with me on her progress and I have been thoroughly pleased with the education she has been receiving from this school. On a side note, I think that if you are a military member, please use caution and discretion when discussing race. If your child is not excelling in school or not meeting the standards set at the district level, please do not blame this on race relations. Maybe exercise a little more parental control and please remember your military bearing, member or spouse.

  • I disagree with the statement below but, this is the second year my children have went. I can comment specifically on the special needs part, the staff is excellent and my child has improved vastly since enrolling in that department part time and integrated part time in a regular classroom. My daughter is currently in her second yr, in K this year, and I am impressed so far. I can tell you that we have been in 3 different districts in southern Il and the only one that compares is the Bethalto School District in Madison County. Jax, Fl kids, beware they are HORRIBLE down there. The only reason I gave it a 4/5 is because there are not enough special programs (ie holiday programs) for the younger grades. I think they really only start at the 3rd grade level and the class parties are only 30 mins long. The teachers themselves would like to see more fun but, with all of the testing they do, they just do not have the time.

  • Terrible school, they treated my african american children like they were dumb. My children received little to no help here. Tried to fail my daughter every chance they could. Race is big here beware. Ask any people who have a racial back ground other then white, you will here some crazy stories. People put up with the bull at this school because it is a military base and they have to in order to keep themselves from looking bad to the military. If this was an off base school the principle and some of the staff would be fired.
