  • After teaching art for 45 years (the last 38 in LOS
ALAMOS NM) I have just retired. Am a bit nostalgic about my teaching career. My 1st ART teaching position was at Round Lake HS. Mr. Forehand was the principal then. I presume that my colleagues and students are gone.... See my web: [email protected]

  • RLHS underperforms state averages in nearly every measurable way. In reading, science, and mathematics RLHS is below the state average on the PSAE exam and has fewer students meeting or exceeding standards than the state mean. Faculty and administration are generally underpaid vis-à-vis other districts. Truancy is a problem and class sizes are large. Instructional spending per pupil is low compared to other districts in the state but necessary to offset the revenue shortfalls from an eroding tax base. The athletic programs are terrible. The football team has not been in the state playoffs in nearly a decade and many sports options common in other districts simply don't exist. Boy’s soccer, wrestling, and girl’s basketball are notable exceptions to the terrible rule. I am an RLHS alumnus and former athlete. After graduation from RLHS I earned a masters degree in a quantitative field and have succeeded professionally. It is possible to succeed as an RLHS grad, but it is the exception rather than the norm.

  • we have a daughter who graduated last year with good grades, she is now in junior col, and lives here in our area with us, we can not believe how little she learned in your school system, her vocabulary is so small, she has alot to learn to catch up.
