  • MY DAUGHTER JUST STARTED KINDER. AT THE PARENT TEA I ASKED IF THE KIDS WERE INTRODUCED TO A SECOND LANGUAGE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE SCHOOL DAY IS ALREADY TOO FULL AND STARTING 8TH GRADE THE KIDS WOULD BE ABLE TO START SPANISH. I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE CHILDREN AT A YOUNG AGE LEARN SO MUCH FASTER. WE ALL KNOW YOUNG CHILDREN SOAK UP EVERYTHING LIKE A SPONGE. MY YOUNGER DAUGHTER GOES TO PENNY LANE IN CHICAGO RIDGE AND SHE HAS SPANISH CLASS EVERY OTHER DAY. SHE COMES HOME SINGING AND TELLING ME COLORS, HELLO GOODBYE IN SPANISH. I THINK THE CURRICULUM SHOULD BE ULTRERED TO INCLUDE A SECOND LANGUAGE SINCE MY DAUGHTER COMES HOME AND TELLS ME THAT ALL SHE DID WAS PLAY AT SCHOOL. AND IM SURE WE HAVE ENOUGH FUNDS SINCE MY HOME OWNERS TAXES WERE ALMOST $9,000 THIS YEAR!!

  • As much as I loved this school as a kid, there are some desperate need for changes. I'm sure the changes may have been made already, since I graduated over ten years ago. At the time, you weren't allowed to talk during lunch (?!) one history teacher thought it'd be cool to waste class time by lecturing me (the whole class) on not being "prepared." and that stupid "eligible" and "ineligible" list is very inappropriate.
