  • I am currently attending Warren Township High School and think that it is an excellent school. The diversity within the student population, coupled with the experienced and knowledgeable teachers creates a great learning environment. We have many extracurricular sports and clubs that have placed in competitions at state and national levels. The number of elective courses offered is one of the most comprehensive in the area. Also, the student to teacher ratio is no worse than many schools in the area. I rarely have had a class with over 20 students (except Physical Development courses) and this year I do not have any class size larger than 17 students.

Although Warren had problems with the old principal, all issues have been resolved and auditing methods have been revised to ensure that school funding can not be embezzled. This incident has not hindered the learning environment and was handled as efficiently as possible.

In regards to meeting No Child Left Behind requirements, in a school of this size it is nearly impossible to expect every subgroup to pass. Warren has over 29 subgroups compared to the 6 or 7 at schools such as Stevenson and Libertyville. Also, Warren is at a disadvantage because of its excellent special education program. Students within this program have to complete the same exam as those in AP and other accelerated courses. At least 25 of our subgroups have passed each year, but the the No Child Left Behind Act requires that an increasing percentage of students pass the test until 100% of the student population passes the exam yearly. These are unrealistic goals and do not properly reflect the school's ability to provide a superb learning environment for all students.

As a student, I would not have wanted to go to any other school because of its diversity and size. The teachers do an excellent job at offering extra help before and after school. Warren also offers one of the best accelerated programs in the area with an abundance of AP, honors, and even dual credit classes. Also, the variety of extracurricular activities and electives offered at Warren is incredible and truly enhances the learning environment. This is an excellent school that has a lot to offer each student.

  • This is a school that provides a quality education for those who want to learn. Their special education section is exceptional and has always helped students needing extra assistance.
This school has and always will be a decent school for those who take advantage of what it has to offer.

  • Warren High School failed to meet the minimum requirements of the No Child Left Behind law in 2003, 2004, and 2005. In 2005, overall averages on state tests were below the state average. Four subgroups failed, as well. As a result, it was placed on the state's Academic Early Warning List. The school was classified as "Choice" by the federal government. This status was intended to give the parents of affected students the right to transfer them to schools with acceptable ratings.
