The environment was rough, but the staff was the best dealing with education.
The area of the school sat between Castle Hill and Soundview, and in today's times can be viewed as being violent, but the school it self is a great enviroment.

- The year was 1974 and the times was good but necessarily rough.The teacher's was very attendant to the needs of those students who wanted and those who was bashful about learning, This school brought about a love/hate type relationship between castle hill projects and soundview projects.Even though IS.174,was the dividing line between the two projects it ultimatly created a life long bond between soundview and castle hill projects that's not to be broken.Baldie/Amar was there from the start,check the history.
