  • My sister started attending SHARP in November. She only went there for 2 days before we found out she was placed in a "seclusion room" for discipline despite the fact that in her paperwork it specifically said NEVER TO BE USED FOR DISCIPLINE. She was dragged from her classroom by roughly a 250 pound security guard through the dirt to a ABIL room where she was placed in the "seclusion room" which is a tiny boxed room with padded walls and a little peep hole for light. She was placed there for cussing and screaming, discipline. We only found out about all of this, because my sister is so verbal and came home an emotional wreck. We then went to the school and viewed this room ourselves.. they would not let us take a picture. Do not let your child, sibling, or loved one be hurt by the ignorance of this school. My sister never returned to SHARP and after the whole situation we had a chance to ask the teacher if she would have done anything different, and she said, "no." If your loved one attends this school, please communicate with them, find out about the ABIL room and the seclusion box before they get hurt physically or emotionally.

  • My sister attended SHARP for 2 days. On the second day she was dragged to the in school suspension and placed in a "seclusion room" When she started the school we had specifically said that she would NEVER be put in this room for discipline. They placed her in this "seclusion room" which was a tiny boxed room with padded walls and a little peep whole for light. The reason was because she was screaming and cussing, for discipline. Me and my mom went to the school to find out what was happening and saw the room, we were outraged! I tried to take a picture but the man in the room stopped me. My sister has been out of SHARP since the incident, but has not forgot about it. Seclusion Rooms are not a way to teach these special needs students, and are very harmful physically and emotionally.

  • Part of their behavior "control" is a box in the ABIL room. It is padded and dark - only room to stand. The only light is from the peephole in the door.
I was not notified that they used this - I only know because my daughter is verbal. I went to the ABIL room and opened the door to the box. A staff member confirmed that my daughter had been placed in the "box". Another staff member said we were allowed to view the ABIL room, but not allowed to ask any questions.
Resubmitted - did not give this school a rating of 5/5 as on the other post!
