School Description
Ararat Charter School is located in Van Nuys, California. This beautiful facility houses six classrooms, a media center, health office, teacher’s lounge, cafetorium, and a nice sized yard. Ararat Charter is the first school to teach both Armenian and Spanish to all its students. Academic rigor is the norm, yet the arts are not pushed aside but are used to complement the core curriculum. Cultural awareness and understanding, as well as the six pillars of character are taught, emphasized, and valued at Ararat Charter School. With a dedicated teaching staff, involved parents, and enrichment and intervention programs we expect our students to soar to great heights and climb to the top.

Principal's Message
Welcome to Ararat Charter School (ACS)! I am honored to be principal of a school that has a strong commitment to academics, character education, technology, cultural enrichment, foreign language, music, and art all of which contribute to broadening students’ understanding of the world. As a parent and a principal, my goal is to provide the best education possible in a nurturing environment.
I believe a strong home/school connection must be developed, nurtured, and sustained. ACS has many opportunities for parent participation and I’d like to invite you to become a part of our school family by volunteering in any way that you can. Please make every effort to involve yourself in your child’s education. Students succeed when the home and school work together.
I have been in the field of education for many years and have served as an instructor for the Los Angeles Unified School District Master Plan Teacher Training Program, Los Angeles County Office of Education, and California State University, Northridge. My experiences as a Categorical Programs Advisor, Instructional Coach, and Elementary Teacher have given me many opportunities to support students in their educational journey. As principal, I provide support and instructional leadership by creating and maintaining a clear focus on student data and achievement. I look forward to assisting all students at Ararat Charter School reach their full potential.
Our wonderful teachers and support staff have worked diligently to prepare for the 2010-2011 school year.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact any one of our staff members. You can reach us at (818) 994-2904. You can also send me an email at: principal@araratcharterschool.com. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Aida Tatiossian
