  • There are snakes in this school. Honestly, this can't be safe with water moccasins roaming around our classrooms.

  • I sort of like ESJ. I HATE THE UNIFORMS THOUGH!!!! I AM A FRESHMAN & I DONT THINK IT'S FAIR WE HAVE TO BE SINGLED OUT FROM EVERYBODY ELSE!!
But other than that, it's an ok school.

  • This is my first year at ESJ. I think it's a good school. I was a little scared at first, but once i got in good & made a few friends, i was ok. I came from a school with over 3,000 students, so a school with less than that is good! There are a few things that could be fixed at the school though. The teachers are great and I LOVE THE PRINCIPAL!!!!!!!

  • the school is NOT that bad. the teachers are NOT bad. the systems are NOT bad either. the STUDENTS are. they don't want to learn and they are not motivated. i feel that they are wasting my time, the teachers' time and their own time. if they don't want to learn then they do not need to be in the class. sure, the bathrooms aren't great but you still have a place to use the bathroom. and as for the uniforms, suck it up. i'm tired of other students complaining about the most ridiculous things. they slacked up on us with the shoes and belts and even the jackets, so why are people still complaining? the students who seem uninterested to be there or have nothing but complaints, need to get out or be kicked out. i'm a senior and i'm trying to graduate. the unappreciative and uncaring students are wasting my time. i WANT to learn the material, if you don't then don't even bother coming to school.

  • this school sucks! I am i junior at ESJH and i have had so many teachers that dont know how to teach! I had one teacher last semester that never spent more than five minutes in front of the class. He was always either on the phone cursing, laughing, and carrying on with other coaches or his girlfriend. Or he spent the rest of his time on his computer, watching play videos, or making fun of other students. he was absolutely horrible. And the counselor in the HHH pathway is totally worthless. She is not willing to help anyone with classes who is not a senior. I would never recommend this school to anyone. Other than the strict dress code and horrible teachers this school is disgusting! More than half of the bathroom stall doors don't have locks and the ones that do have locks do not have any toilet paper. I am actually embarrassed to tell people where I go to school because of their reactions. This school needs some serious help from the state of Louisiana.

  • I am a senior at East St. John High. I am an honors student with a 3.75 GPA. I am a four year veteran of the girl's soccer team. I am going to college. I believe that the honors teachers prepare students to the greatest extent for college. Yes, the faculty stresses about the dress code. But, what career will allow you the have your pants sagging? Honestly, if the students would just tuck in their shirt, pull up their pants, and wear a belt, then there would be no problem. The teachers are wonderful people. And even if they aren't great teachers, a child who is motivated and wants to learn... will learn. I am very happy that I continued to stay in the public school system after middle school. I'm going to graduate this year and I believe ESJH has fully prepared me for my college career.

  • The faculty at this school was unable to assist in any questions that I had. They always had a difficult time keeping the classes in order, kids were constantly causing distractions that the teachers could not handle. The most ridiculous aspect that I along with many other students had to deal with was the dress codes. If your shoes had one speck of any color on them you would be written up. Pants could not have any cuffs in them or additional pockets. Coming from a district with many low income families some of these restrictions were difficult for families to abide by when shopping for clothing. Instead of focusing on education the faculty was more interested in the way everyone dressed. I would not recommend this school to anyone!
