  • Michigan Avenue Academy offers many support services to students including small classes, individualized instruction, counseling and college preparation services. Their mission is to "change the publics view on alternative education". You might occasionally come across a student who wants to push your buttons, but they are always dealt with by the administration. Michigan Avenue Academy offers students varied opportunities to gain knowledge through experience. They have many fun activities and parties to praise students and celebrate. If you are considering a switch from a traditional high school, consider Michigan Avenue Academy! After all- Alternative Education has changed much more over the years then it ever has.

  • I've had a child attend this school a few years in the past. I do not agree with the other review on this school. Most of the children whom have or are attending have been kicked out of their own High Schools. I also have found that many of the parents who have kids in this school have just as many issues as the children. The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. The staff does the best they can and these parents need to realize that the kids and themselves are responsible for their own actions. While my child was in this school, when he wasn't getting himself into trouble, he did very well. I believe that if he would have settled down and studied like he was suppose to he would have done fine. This school is not your typical public school but neither are the public schools now days. I believe that the nations school assocation together as a whole needs an overhaul. We need to be teaching our children things to help them in this day and age. No longer is teaching things of the past helpful to their and our future. It's time for a change. If you're looking to send your child here, I would suggest taking a look at yourself before placing judgement upon a school that is trying to get your child an education, can you accept that your child put themselves in this situation? This school has a great deal to offer any child who is willing to take the responsibility that comes with being a part of society. I'm thankful that my child had the opportunity to still get an education after he couldn't go back to his own High School. Michigan Ave. gave him that opportunity, he's the one who blew it for himself. I know in time he'll get the picture. I continue to intend for him to have a bright and enlightened future. Thank you Michigan Avenue Academy for offering your assistance.
