I have been at the school since 2003 and would love to say that I have enjoyed the process of having my children attend elementary school. I find it really hard to understand why the CCSD does nothing when they can clearly see that a school is steadily going down hill. This school was an over achieving school before the Spanish program was brought in. The administration is more concerned with a hand full of students doing well at Spanish, than the whole population actually leaving elementary school with a good education.like the three R's.and no I am not talking about Reduce Reuse Recycle people. This school does not have a comprehensive program in place to make sure that the kids are learning how to read, write and understand math. More emphasis is put on whether they can relate to people in other countries, which is fine when it is not the main focus of a 6 hours day in school. Unfortunately for my kids, they lost out on the wonderful education that McDoniel used to offer. I wish that the school board would listen to the parents and do something about fixing our school.

I would love to say that this school has a lot of programs and great potential. However, it seems to be a repeating problem where the staff refuses to deal with parental concerns about classroom behavior problems. When trying to resolve problems regarding the handling of student incidences, the office administration will automatically stand by the teachers. Repercussions will most certainly follow until your child is separated from the group, refused recess, given lifeboat for asking work related questions that other children are allowed to ask, beaten up by other students, threatened by other students, harassed by other students and if your child tries to defend themselves or tries to notify the teacher they will be belittled and suspended and you will be called out of work more days than not. It's been an on-going problem with not only myself but 5 other sets of parents as well. It's a shame because outwardly it seems like a fantastic school. You just have to be in the right click.
