  • I am disappointed--just because this school lost 2 teachers and had to rearrange its staff doesn't mean our students have to suffer in their grades. My daughter was in one 3rd grade class and the teacher basically decided not to share her grades with her new teacher. Due to this, her A average (based on the 1st 3 weeks) dropped to 2 A's, 2B's, and 1C. All because the second 3rd grade teacher had only 3 weeks to grade her and the 2 other classmates from the 1st teacher and the rest of the class had 6 weeks worth of grades. Talk about laziness--all he had to do was print out his whole class gradebook and cut the sheet up into pieces and had distributed to the appropriate teachers who received his students and then turned his attention the new class of 5th graders. I got told when I asked about this practice of "makeup" grades that it was just because it was the 1st 3 weeks-- it was done all the time. No wonder this is a Title 1 school. The first quarter is supposed to be high since it is all review. How can it be if all the teachers who do not take the time to give the appropriate grades to the next teacher who receive their students. We wish to teach our children how to follow through with their work--our children won't learn this if our teachers don't follow through as an example.
