The students tend to be from educated, caring households and do well on tests. The teachers are not the reason. Some of the teachers are slack. I chose to take mine out after third grade because of the experience we had with a sibling in fourth and fifth.
The principal will support anything the teachers want to do or not do. Students usually don't have homework, and most of them can choose to not work. If you complain, they say that maybe the school is not for you.
