    To Whom It May Concern:

It has come to my attention that your school is seeking a physical education teacher for the upcoming school year. I would like to be considered an applicant. I am interested in this position because your school strives for academic excellence and the development of good character.

As you will notice from my resume I have recently completed student teaching at Northside Elementary School in Fairport and the Newark High School, Rochester New York. Through these experiences I have had the opportunity to plan lessons and deliver instruction to students in grades three through twelve. I have also had wonderful experiences working with children grades K through two at the Appleby Elementary School in Cortland and Macedon Elementary School. I now have skills to enhance children’s ability to improve physical fitness and lifetime skills, while teaching them about building and developing a good character.

In addition to student teaching, I have had a number of opportunities to work with children as they strive for academic success and physical well being. I constructed an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for a student with autism, piloted the Cortland/Homer After-School Mentor Program (CHAMP) through SUNY Cortland, created summer programs such as Field Day through Children’s Continuous Care in Macedon, and co-founded the Palmyra-Macedon Summer Softball League. These opportunities enabled me to build leadership skills and allowed me to experience new things.

Through all my various experiences and opportunities working with children at all age levels; I feel that I have grown as a teacher and as a person. I thank you for considering me as an applicant, and I eagerly look forward to your response.

    Sincerely,

    Erin Brooks
