  • As a former student, Wapak was ok. However if you did not have a good group of friends, you would fall behind in academics and moral ethics. Far too much emphasis is placed on sports. Students are favored if they are athletically gifted. Great school if you want a football scholarship. The year of 2010 has seen budget cuts on most faculty and the ArtDept has been slashed, with one teacher and an entire program being removed. The single remaining art teacher now has more than they can handle.
Cliched cliques are alive and well. If you were not part of the 'popular' group then chances are good that your child would fall in with one of the many drug users. In addition to this, the faculty are far too tolerant of drugs/alcohol. Of course the students would be punished if found with these, but nothing has been done about the students who show up to class inebriated. The subject of bullying is worth being touched upon. It bears mentioning again that if you weren't part of the 'in-crowd' then you would be the subject of awful tormenting. There is also a very strong chance that your daughter(s) will end up pregnant before Sophmore year.
If you wish your child to stay in the same mindset and mental/physical health as when they first entered the school, you might want to consider sending them to another district for their high school education. Wapakoneta school systems are fantastic from elementary to middle school, but high school just not safe unless your children have a good group of friends.
