  • I'm a '76 alum. The old neighborhood changed, but several of the friends of my youth are still there.
Carter had it pros and cons, but if you applied yourself and wanted to go somewhere you could. I have 3 degrees, from the foundation I got there, so they can't be as bad as some think they are. No school can provide everything. There were and always will be haves and have nots.
This is a country that only provides the opportunity, so what you do with it is all up to you. Those who complain are doing nothing but complaining, and want the field artificially leveled for them. There are quite few very successful people I know from Carter, and a few that were an embarrassment.

Quit complaining you whiners out there and make something of yourself.

  • My daughter attend Duncanville last year. This year I had to enroll her into Carter. So far she doesn't like it & I can also say the same. I plan on returning to the Duncanville district, once my lease is up.

  • I am a Junior at this fine establishment. Carter serves 9th thru 12th, not 8th thru 12th. People down Carter so much, but don't even really know what happens there. This school is great, I am learning, and progressing, and our school gets better every year.

  • I went to this school back in the mid 60's - I thought it was a horrible school then and hear it has gone down hill very fast over the years. I was passed from grade to grade, irregardless of my grades. The school was made up of students that had Daddy's $ and those that didn't. I hated it. Cut my apple in half!

  • I am a parent and my daughter goes to D.W. Carter high School. she come from Desoto High School and I can Honestly say I Love Carter much better than Desoto. At Carter the teachers relate to her and They seem to passionately care. Maybe because they no how hard it can be for a Black to make it. they have great Teachers and they reach out to their students and they don't shut the parents out. we are like one big team aiming for the same goal. A child has to want to learn no matter what school their at. So D. W. Carter is my daughter graduating School and I say that Proudly. I am Satisfied and so is my Daughter.
