  • Wonderful administration- the communication is extremely effective considering the size of the student body. One of the first IB programs in the state. Is constantly rated in the top 100 or higher in high schools in the county. Is housed in a building that is over a hundred years old and is now a historic monument. Has the largest student body of the HS in GISD. Has also one of the lowest police reports of problems in the GISD. Like any other school the main issue is communication. With 1 awesome Principal, 5 great VP and over 7 counselors a parent or gasp the student has to make their problems know and their needs known. Always check the background of a school from the CV of the administration to the other public records such as police and state agency. Good Luck.

  • My child graduated at this school and she preferred to have stayed in RISD. I bought house in Garland and I was so unhappy with the school district (especially this HS) it is over crowded to the extreme. We are now moving back to Richardson because I don't think I can stand my younger child attending this HS in the future. The bullying is terrible and the kids are out of control.

  • We had nothing but problems out of this school. The bullying at Garland is extreme. The staff entirely incompetent. Plan to be at the school an hour before needing to pick up your child prior for Doctor Appointments. The staff is not there to work and do not care if your child is being bullied or not. I can not believe this school resides in America. I am currently paying taxes in Garland for the bullying kid's education while living in RISD so my children can attend a descent school.
