  • My daughter is only in kindergarten so this is only the first year at NES but I am so impressed by the school, teachers and faculty. Mrs. Hicks is an amazing principal who truly treats every child with such great enthusiasm. My daughter loves going to school here and that makes such a difference. There is plenty of opportunity for parent involvement and that makes such a difference and makes me feel better as a parent. Also her teacher is so great. I can't believe how much my daughter has already learned. I know the 1st-5th grade will be just as great.

  • We have moved around a lot, we have been through 6 elementary schools in the local area, and I can assure you that Nottoway is top notch. I am very impressed by the close interaction of all of the staff with all of the students and parents. They really know their kids. They welcome everyone with open arms and the enthusiasm in contagious. My youngest son has excelled in the environment they provide. He achieved honor roll this year for the first time and he is on safety patrol. I am very excited for my youngest to attend.

  • Mrs. Hicks makes school fun by giving parties to students who do well and don't get into trouble; but, sometimes she gives too soft a punishment to someone who deserve more discipline. Slower learners are given every opportunity to succeed; but, for faster learners there are gifted programs and graduated learning structures for reading and spelling. The playground is in need of repair. I was always able to complete the assigned homework. Most of the teachers are extremely nice; but, Ms. Johnson, the librarian is the best!

  • Both of my daughters attend(ed) this school. There has never been an issue that I felt was not dealt with appropriately by Mrs. Hicks and the Staff. The teachers are very involved with all students and children who make an effort to achieve are celebrated. While there are not many sports programs, there are competitive academic opportunities. The facility is incredibly safe and well maintained. I know that those aspects of my children that make me a proud parent (my children being thoughtful, generous, charitable, polite, and helpful) are a strong and vital part of my daughters' personalities because of the expectations and encouragement of the Nottoway Elementary Education Team.
