  • How blind you all are. Look at the statistics put out by the school itself. Lower than the national average, below the state and below the school system. If all else fails, look at the spelling in this blog by it's students. How about the violence? No one is blaming you as students...you are not failing, the school is failing you. Each school has an accountability report on its home page. Check it out. I pulled my son out as soon as I could and got the same result as the mom below. From failure to success.

  • ita all depends on which teacher you get. half the teachers there cant teach to save their life. and the other half can teach really good. i hate that they cant switch you out a class if your not doing good with that teacher. so basically the counseling dont care weather u pass or fail. and they put too many people in iss for stupid reasons. but all the food fights last semester was fun. im a senior there

  • I like my school! I know people say a lot of bad things about the school, but I don't know if I believe all that. Berkmar's culture is so rich that people can feel confused on what to focus on, but that's how high school is. Reputation and rumors can blind judgement on what really matters, but then again I'm just comforting myself? Nice talking to myself about my school! ^.^

  • Berkmar is one of those hit and miss schools. Either you hit at exactly the right time, meaning you get teachers that care, or you simply get the ones that say "Whether you learn or not, I still get my paycheck." It isn't hard to make good grades at Berkmar, all you have to do is study. I do have to say though that the lessons could be taught better. I am in college now. High school students expect their teachers to spell every single thing out for them. SOME teachers at Berkmar do that, but that is just endangering the student from becoming successful in college.

  • I'm a berkmar alum.....and to say that the school doesn't care about the students or that the child fails because of the school is ridiculous. I made it through high school at Berkmar and did really well. So well infact that I'm now not only a berkmar alum but I'm a university of california, berkeley alum. Stop blaming the school for your failure as a parent.

  • To the review that said your child became a straight-A student by transferring: I completely doubt the credibility of that story, or at least the reasons behind the grades. Berkmar is a fantastic institution; if your child didn't succeed there, the blame isn't on the staff.

  • My son attended Berkmar and failed terribly. His adviser could have cared less. She even did personal business when I tried to meet with her. We (his parents) transferred him to another school where he became a straight A student. He won many awards and a scholarship at his new school. If it hadn't been for the grades at Berkmar then he would have graduated number one in his class. Berkmar ruins the academic future of many students.

  • This school is absolutely amazing. We have some of the best teachers in Georgia (as well as some bad ones) and although most cast us in a negative light and call our school "ghetto" its really the amazing kids that are in the shadows that make Berkmar great. Like they say, don't knock it 'till you try it. And that is what people should do for Berkmar.
