There are several high schools in Springfield. Central High School, which is located in the downtown area of Springfield, is the oldest high school in Springfield. Parkview is the second oldest high school. Besides the public high schools, there are several Christian private high schools such as New Covenant Academy, Springfield Catholic High School, and Christian Schools of Springfield.
Southwest Baptist University, which is associated with the Missouri Baptist Convention, is a private university for students who want to attend a school where they can receive an education in a Christian school. Southwest Baptist University has three campuses besides the one in Springfield. They are in Bolivar, Mountain View, and Salem. Missouri State University is also located in Springfield. This is the second largest university in Missouri. Besides the main campus, there is a two-year branch in West Plains, a research campus in Mountain Grove, and several programs in China. Some of the fields of study are Arts and Letters, Business Administration, Eudcation, and others.
