  • I am a teacher in good standing at Rosary Cathedral School. The school cares only about how much money they get from the state. We have a very dedicated staff who bends over backwards and tries to do a good job. However, they receive little support. Staff is not appreciated and told when we have problems that God is the answer. If we fail due to a lack of funding or support, we are questioned. If you are considering employment at this school as a teacher, you should look elsewhere. Outside of the problems I have mentioned, teachers are paid below the poverty line. We are expected to keep up with our education and are not compensated. If a teacher puts in 20 years in at this school, they can hope to make $30,000 a year. Starting pay is $20,000-$21,000 a year. Staff is spread incredibly thin. Professional development is non-existent and there is no incentive to earn a Master's degree. Lunches have to be prepared outside of the school building and shipped to the school because they can't get a health inspector to sign off on the kitchen because the Diocese is unwilling to change their policy.
