  • My husband and I visited many schools in the Baltimore area to be sure we were selecting the right school for our daughter. St James Academy has been a great academic and social environment for our daughter. They have high academic standards, teach honesty and diversity and truly create a home away from home for our daughter. The parents are active in the school. Our daughter looks forward to school and has excelled both socially and academically. We have also met great friends at SJA. No doubt our daughter is getting an excellent education that will prepare her for high school and the future.

  • My husband and I agonized over where to send our two very different children. We chose St James bacause it offers our shy daughter a friendly, nurturing environment as well as lots of opportunities to gain self confidence, and the firm but kind guidance our outgoing son needed to excell in the classroom. Both kids are doing very well. I personally love the down-to-earthness and involvement of the other parents. We are all VERY, VERY happy!

  • "St. James students get into any school they want after they graduate 8th grade." This is what I’m hearing from high school admission counselors and alumni parents as I research high schools. Whether it is the most competitive private high school or a local public high school, St. James kids are the best prepared students out there.
With an incredible faculty, low student-teacher ratio, and rigorous academic program, SJA offers a peerless educational foundation to its students. Plus, SJA’s middle school is the only private middle school in the area to offer the prestigious International Baccalaureate program, with honors-level learning and worldwide recognition.
One of the things that I’ve witnessed is that SJA kids don't just learn, they learn HOW to learn. Students do research, present on stage (as early as Prefirst), showcase projects in science fair formats, work in small groups, large groups and individually. These kids are literally brought up using these skills within their learning environment. They face challenges as adventures.
Also important to our family is that the kids learn in an arena that values faith honor, respect, family and community. There are families of all faiths here, bound together by common values, and embraced in their differences.
No matter what your child’s interest is, SJA will meet it. If your child wants to learn electric guitar, ballet, karate, scouting, sports, or bagpipes-the school brings the classes to your student. As a mom to three SJA students, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate having the multitude of extracurriculars under one roof!
As a family, we have become a part of the SJA community and are better for it. I absolutely know that my kids love school and the school community loves my children. It takes a village-as they say-and having SJA as part of our own personal village has been a tremendous experience for me and my children.

  • St. James Academy is a beautiful state-of-the-art Kindergarten through Grade 8 facility in Monkton providing academic excellence. It is a very special place that provides individual attention to its students in a supportive and nurturing atmosphere. Each child emerges from his/her car in the morning greeted by a smile and excited to start his/her day treasuring what SJA has to offer. Every student, each with his/her unique qualities, fulfill a very special role at SJA. Its teachers, staff, and administration forever impact the development of our children. For many of them, their years spent at SJA are longer than most will attend their high school and college together. SJA students graduate fully prepared for a very rigorous high school program as they have been provided an exceptional foundation for their continued education and are quite successful. We are blessed to have sent both our children to SJA. The SJA experience is truly a great investment!

  • The best decision my family ever made. A challenging yet nurturing environment where the student to teacher ratio allows for any child to grow. A beautiful campus with an incredibly well rounded experience for any child. Proud to be a part of this school!
