  • Elim's residential program has been closed, which is a shame. The program was a great help to many families for many years. Not sure if this was a DHS decision or resulted from internal agency problems.

  • I'm sorry to say it but Elim has not improved over the years. Administration seem completely absent and uninterested in the day to day care of their students. Aides/Teachers can be great but do not typically stay for very long. It was not always like this.

  • Outstanding commitment to educating individuals with special needs. Staff has gone above and beyond to work with our son, doing what it takes to help him work to his potential. Our child has learned more at Elim in 3 years then what he had learned in the public school where he was from pre k to 2nd grade. Elim offers the school experience for individuals that may not be able to experience at a home school. They offer after school activities, choir, and prom. They have a literacy center with books available for all types of learners, even laminated books that don't rip. Students enjoy lots of time outdoors for recess and PE. I've noticed it is loud at times outside, but it has always been the students enjoying recess or PE. The times I have been at the school staff seem happy and I've never witnessed yelling or students being mistreated. In the programs that my son is in staff has been the same. As a former teacher in the public school, turn over seems about average. For para pros there is always a high turnover rate due to the low pay and the quality para pros eventually begin teaching. This school is top notch and the only place that seemed right for my son.

  • Some of the staff seem very inexperienced, stressed and at times, rude and even un-Christian. Very high turnover rate for staff, leaving the children always having to adjust to someone new.

  • Their buses totally snarl local traffic for at least an hour every day. Phone calls are NEVER returned.

  • Live across street. Lots of noise and yelling all the time. I've called but no one ever answers the phone.
