  • The teachers are rude to parents and children. I have not dealt with the principal much but I hear she can also be rude. I have two children attending there and have had some problems with the staff. Not all of them are a problem but there is definetly a problem at the school. I have spoken to other parents about this and the majority have also experienced these issues.

  • As the aunt of a two kindergarten students, I can tell you that the quality of the education at Westpark are as night and day as the two teachers available. One student under KINDERGARTEN teacher "A" is thriving! My nephew is told often that the most important thing is that he tries his best, so he is learning at a fantastic pace while he learns too love school. My niece, on the other hand, my 5 YEAR OLD NIECE, is looking like she could have a stroke before she's 6 from the STRESS Teacher "B" IS PUTTING HER UNDER!!! Granted, I am an aunt who used to hear stories from my niece about how fun school was and how she loved her teacher in preschool, so I admit my opinion is slightly shaded. Also, my niece - who because of CARING early intervention overcame pre-Autism - does have ADD, which is not easy to deal with - BUT ALSO, NOT SOMETHING SHE CAN CONTROL. BUT... In the span of one MONTH AT THIS SCHOOL -WESTPARK ELEMENTARY- this psychotic 'Nurse Ratchet' of a KINDERGARTEN teacher has reduced my once happy, though ADD-stricken niece to a crying, frightened mess who thinks she must be a bad person because her teacher can only give her SAD FACES for every little thing she does!!! OMG! a 5 year old COLORED OUT OF THE LINES THE WORLD WILL END!!! No. it won't. Nor will the world end if she sstarts her letters from the bottom - because her brain tells her to do it like that - instead of the top. If this teacher were teaching 70 years ago, I supect she'd be smacking 5 year olds with a yard stick because a few DARED to use their left hand instead of the "correct" one, "the right hand, of course." Recess is taken away during a 6-hour day for my niece NOT because she rebelliously CHOSE to disobey (which would warrant removal of privileges) but because of her ADD which would BENEFIT from a BREAK for pity sake - it's kindergarten!! I need a break after 3 hours, don't you?!
Normally, I would not single out one teacher to judge an entire school by. But when I see a child change their demeanor so quickly because of the actions of one teacher who can give NOTHING to a five year old child but criticism, AND THE PRINCIPAL DOES NOTHING? Then I must assume that good teacher "A" is fluke and my nephew is one of the lucky ones, not my niece.
