  • I loved CHS. The Teach for America teachers really spent a lot of time with me to get me ready for college. We had great administrators too; Dr. G, Coach Jackson, Coach Brown, Mrs. Davis and Coach Simpson. We always felt like the staff cared about us. I'm glad that I graduated in 2006 before the school board and the superintendent ruined CHS. I'm a successful business leader in Texas now and I love my work. I'm really sad that CHS isn't half the school that it used to be.

  • I graduated from Central in 2006. I'm in Graduate School now in California. I loved Central High. Thank you to Dr. G for The ACT Lab! I raised my test scores because of my studying in there and I earned an academic scholarship. Thanks also to Coach Brown, Coach Jackson and Mr. Artis.

  • I graduated for Central High in 2006. I learned a lot about college prep and the ACT exam during my senior year. This helped me obtain a full college scholarship. The ACT Lab at school really put me over the top. Big thanks to our principal then Dr. G.

  • I am a senior in college at UAPB. I finished at Central in 2007. Loved it. Loved the college trips. Loved all of the ACT prep courses. Our staff and our administrators cared about us. The superintendent was a fool. He ruined our school.

  • I worked at Central High School for several years. It was a wonderful group of people to work with. The State Takeover of The Helena-West Helena School District due to financial mismanagement by the board and the superintendent in 2005 ruined the school. It has never been the same since. The school board meetings in the school district are a sham. The school board members act like a bunch of clowns throwing pies at each other. I'm rating this school high because it was for many years. It sure is not any more.

  • Central High school in Helena West Helena was a wonderful experience for me and three other family members who graduated from there from 2003-2007. The administrators and the teachers worked hard to get all of us in College. The School Board meetings here are always a joke. The Board members act like a bunch of clowns throwing pies at each other.

  • Central was a wonderful place to learn when I graduated in 1971. After reading the reviews below, the thing that worries me the most is that only one entry used proper grammar. It's hard to say that it is a great school that you attend when you can't even use the correct spelling or pronunciation.

  • Well I believe our school just need some more authority! If we would have this we would all be okay im a student at central high school and this agree with the parent and or guardian who ever this person is about our school. I mean sure its not perfect but there are some good things about CHS! We finally have our band program back so thats good and its keepin kids like me out of trouble like to be honest i could do a lot of damage but band helps keep me focus! If we had more things to do within our school system it would show and help make a difference and if we could tell that the teachers care like they say they do then there would be less violence but i wont say that it would knock out the violence all together but it would but a major dent in the percentage rate trust me ik honestly believe that.

  • I am so proud to be an Allumni of Central High's 1991 class. I also want to celebrate how well the Football team is doing this year- congrats! I was just informed of the specifics on your quarterback, whom by the way is the son of a fellow 91' graduate Debra West. Congrats Debra and great job raising a fantastic young athlete who I hear is a great young man as well. Kudos Central - I received a great education there and have lots of fond memories! Keep up the good work!

  • As a former studen I believe that if you are going to knock a school you should do it with correct grammar ( why has your opponents always NEEDED a school escort?) It's sad that so many people wanna tell about how bad Central is, yet never things of helping. The students have gone downhill but the staff has always done their best to keep them in line. The reason they continue to get worse is because they are being forgotten. I grew up in West Helena, and I know attend St. Louis University on an academic scholarship. It is possible to recieve a decent education there. Some one needs to help, not just complain.

  • School uniforms suck bad since the states not over us anymore we shouldn't have to wear them they don't even help with any thing y'all are trying to prevent such a sagging. Also if kids have to wear uniforms as a child or teen they might not want to when there older and there jobs require them.

  • Well I think that our school is a very good school also i think that we need more school activities to improve on our learning and social skills. Then maybe like that other school review we got won't be so bad if we be able to improve our social skills. So whoever reads this please try to get us some field trips so that we could improve our social skills.Thank you for reading this.

  • You need a review? Well No one should play these people in any kind of sports! Why has your opponents always need a school escort? Well, Your school showed it's true colors tonight! I am so glad my child is graduating, but I tell you. I will do my best that no school district will play you again if I have to go to the State School Board! The school needs to KNOW HOW TO ACT WHEN THE BAND IS PLAYING FOR YOUR TOWN! PATHETIC.
