  • This school is a gem. The academics are excellent. The school also focuses on character development of the children. The administration, faculty and staff are excellent, kind and nurturing. Tuition is actually incredibly reasonable when compared to similar schools. I have sent two children through this school. They both loved the school.

  • I love St. James' School! The diversity is real and the teachers are phenomenal! The school features super strong academics based in an environment that emphasizes the core values of integrity, honesty, generosity and respect. St. James' students are widely accepted and go on to the finest middle schools in Los Angeles. The tuition has gone up in recent years but still remains at least $5000 less than comparable schools and includes free daycare. Mr. Bowers has added many assistant teachers to the already outstanding faculty. As a parishioner of St. James' Church I volunteer at the school often, and see how happy and engaged the kids are. I am proud to support this most important mission of St. James' Church!

  • St. James' School was once a diverse, affordable, well-respected neighborhood school. (I sent both my sons here.) In the last four years the school has gone through three headmasters, and endless administrative changes which have resulted in chaotic and unfocused leadership. The tuition has nearly doubled and financial aide slashed. The PSF (Parent Support Fellowship) of which I was a member were constantly discussing charges of financial mismanagement, ethical malfeasance, and even harassment complaints regarding the headmaster Stephen Bowers. I would have withdrawn my oldest son last year if not for the otherwise excellent teaching staff. As poor as the school administration is, the school board of directors is more complicit as they let this go on and on, even in the light of overwhelming parent and faculty complaints. Such a sad story.
