  • As a former teacher in this building, I have to agree with the candid and brutally honest reports from the students. We certainly thought all of these things. You have to give it to the kids they will stand up and say it!

I understand here recently that the teachers no longer have substitutes coming into the building. They have to sub for each other. Which means less personal preparation time for their own classes.

The overall ethos of CHS is negative and depressing. There were so many negative attitudes; to find one positive one was an anomaly. If you aren't from Douglas, you definitely were shunned even though you may have brought something new and exciting to CHS.

CHS drop out rate is extremely high. Kids would drop out after loss of credit on the error of the school's part. The pregnancy rate is the highest in the state of Georgia. It was the norm to see at least 20-30 pregnant teens walking down the hall on any given day.

Overall, the school could use some major improvement.

  • First of all I attended this school 10 years ago and it was nothing like what I have been reading. It was an excellent school at that time and it prepared me for college. I love CHS. Southern GA schools are the best.

  • The school also does not know how to spend money or control their money. It said that the graduating seniors might have to pay for their own graduation. This school is has an ok learning plan, it just that no one cares no more about the school or the students. If they would stop and listen to the students that care they could make it better. The people that run this school need to have a wake up call. Just put more time in the school and it can get better if people just try to help it along the way. And many people don't like to worry about a school because they think its a school, why worry, well their wrong about it. People just need to show some care in this school and it can get better just try. But to some this school is a lost hope. Its sad.

  • coffe high school is a joke everybody says when you get to high school its the easiest four years of your life but chs takes all that away we cant do anything at this school we cant even go to the bathroom without getting searched because coffe high school is retarded we dont even have most classes that people want to take because were too busy building new stadiums and crap that we dont even need they say they care about the future of their students.then why dont they show it? why dont they try to make it a better school so we CAN be successful i cant tell you how many people drop out every year because of the school, not the classes, but the school, the administrators, the teachers none of them know what they're doing they just do what they think they have to because they have a shiny name tag that says coffe high school gave them a job the school serves crappy food and the bathrooms are always a mess the janitors dont do their job and to be frankly honest coffee high school sucks all together the teachers the school the administrators everything man

  • CHS,,
when i first started this school i enjoyed it. the longer ive been here the less i like it. ive really considered dropping out because the way we get treated.
    the teachers are HATEFUL!
i though they were here to teach us, thats a JOKE.
there only here for a CHECK,
there are so many problems that go on out here, but the (...) DONT care.
students suffer because this school is completely broke.
but they have money to build a new foot ball stadium.
football is important and we have a great team.
but education is SUPPOSED to be most important.
    what's the motto?
maybe the staff out here should help out more.
    thank you:)

  • This school makes no sense to anyone and many people have problems because no one cares about this school and many students don't have respect for none of the teachers. Also how can future have success if this generation is setting us up to fail. Some students try to get a education but others just don't care thats why this school is messed up because no one cares but just a few care about the place. But it still here so we have to deal with it.

  • This school is CRAZY! As far as teachers, it would just be nice if they took the time to teach. Now students on the other hand is a totally different story. 90% of the students dont want to learn but i guess thats usual but sad. They come to school and make it where those who want to learn cant. Not to mention the gangs and drugs that go on at this school that the administrators dont even know about. For God's sake there are 3 or 4 deputies walking around the school all day. Do you really think that changes anything? Students are a whole lot sneakier than people give them credit for. Students are still dealin in the hallways. The administrators dont do too much about anything actually. Put it this way, I hope by the time I have children they wont have to come here.

  • This school sucks. It's sad when kids fail a class when a teacher is teaching it and then retakes it on computer (credit recovery) and passes 30 points higher than the first time. CHS is very unsafe. People stab other people in the eye with pencils. We had 19 FIGHTS two weeks ago. One boy got his arm broken (spiral break) and the other can't even come back to school because the administration deems it unsafe for him to walk the halls. We don't have enough books for the students and they wonder why half of CHS doesn't graduate. and the state expects teachers to teach us stuff that we don't have books for. Teachers have to share classrooms because there are so many students and not enough rooms because the CCBOE spends billions of dollars on football and ATHLETIC COMPLEXES for the new MIDDLE SCHOOL WHEN THE HIGH SCHOOL IS LIKE five Minutes from the new middle school. And another thing, traffic is bad enough now. try to drive without getting run over. Wait till next year when they open the new middle school because they built it in the worst possible spot. And do you want to know why CHS can't meet AYP because all they care about is SPORTS. Do you want to know where are money goes? SPORTS of course. They can't buy books and desks because they spend our money on stupid things like cornerstone. Unless you're an athlete you get counted absent for going to the Dr. or leaving early. I HATE CHS. It doesn't matter if someone harasses you because they don't do a thing about it. It's my last year and I am so glad so is the rest of the class of 2007. Parents don't know half of what goes on at that school because they try to keep it on the down low. TOO OVER-CROWDED and DANGEROUS.

  • So far, the teachers I have met seem to be pretty fantastic people. They really seem to care about the students. Every thing seems to be as it should be. I do not like God being taken out of the schools. The students should have the choice whether or not they want to say the pledge or say a prayer. Please give them that choice. I would also like to commend the students, they seem to be respectful of one another. I think CHS is a terrific school for our kids. A little crowded, but non the less a good school. As I learn more about the school, the grade will show my thoughts.
