  • As a former teacher in this building, I have to agree with the candid and brutally honest reports from the students. We certainly thought all of these things. You have to give it to the kids they will stand up and say it!

I understand here recently that the teachers no longer have substitutes coming into the building. They have to sub for each other. Which means less personal preparation time for their own classes.

The overall ethos of CHS is negative and depressing. There were so many negative attitudes; to find one positive one was an anomaly. If you aren't from Douglas, you definitely were shunned even though you may have brought something new and exciting to CHS.

CHS drop out rate is extremely high. Kids would drop out after loss of credit on the error of the school's part. The pregnancy rate is the highest in the state of Georgia. It was the norm to see at least 20-30 pregnant teens walking down the hall on any given day.

Overall, the school could use some major improvement.

  • This school is CRAZY! As far as teachers, it would just be nice if they took the time to teach. Now students on the other hand is a totally different story. 90% of the students dont want to learn but i guess thats usual but sad. They come to school and make it where those who want to learn cant. Not to mention the gangs and drugs that go on at this school that the administrators dont even know about. For God's sake there are 3 or 4 deputies walking around the school all day. Do you really think that changes anything? Students are a whole lot sneakier than people give them credit for. Students are still dealin in the hallways. The administrators dont do too much about anything actually. Put it this way, I hope by the time I have children they wont have to come here.

  • So far, the teachers I have met seem to be pretty fantastic people. They really seem to care about the students. Every thing seems to be as it should be. I do not like God being taken out of the schools. The students should have the choice whether or not they want to say the pledge or say a prayer. Please give them that choice. I would also like to commend the students, they seem to be respectful of one another. I think CHS is a terrific school for our kids. A little crowded, but non the less a good school. As I learn more about the school, the grade will show my thoughts.
