Well One Teacher, Mrs Craig on 7E Is VERYYY Good At Teaching Even Though She's A Little Tough Sometimes! What Im Saying is that DIRKSEN needs to act like a REAL SUBURBAN SCHOOL and not anything less! Some students are a mess and the school is not organized !!!

  • dirksen is the best school ever> we may hava few twirks but we can work on that. Ok like to day we had a food fight and they might take away our 8th grade luncheon. but people know who through food and they should step up and admit it. i know one thing that if they parents new what they were doing they wouldn't be doing this.
    Much love,

  • I really don't like this school because of the students. The nurse really doesn't care.
I say this because you could tell her u have a headache and she replies"What do u want me to do about it" She gives u an ice pack but u can tell that she does not care that much.
A majority of the students{{Not all of them}}are disrespectful and I think there should be better control

  • Dirsken has been a blessing to myself and my daughter. We have recently moved to the district and my daughter was doing terrible in a Chicago public school. She was put into Ms. Gomez class and is doing wonderful. I cannot describe the feeling I get when my daughter comes home with a smile after earning a good grade. It has made her more determined to be a good student and the bus that takes her to and from school has been a big help to me. God bless Dirksen and in particular Mrs. Gomez who my daughter says she loves, and I haven't heard her speak that way about a teacher since the 1st grade. Keep up the good work.

  • There is nothing wrong with Dirksen Middle School. I went there and graduated in 1989, my sister and brother also graduated from there. I now have a daughter starting in sixth grade, and a son in the seventh this year. I believe it has gotten a whole lot better since I last attended. As for the dress code, I think it is a great ideal. It also saves lots of money. When children learn how to behave, then they can wear what they want. My siblings and I had some of the best years of our life there, and now my children are doing the same. Dirksen now have much more to offer. A BIG THANK YOU to Ms. Grimes who helped my son a lot last year, and made his transition to junior high school pretty easy.

  • I am a student at Dirksen Middle school in Calumet I previously just graduated with the class of 2007! Not only is the school horrible but the graduation ceremony was also! They were more than an hour late starting! It was hot! The school gives us students no opportunities to do anything! There are no after school activities and we are on academic probation! The teachers are prejudice and don't reach the standards of a qualified teacher! This year a boy brought a gun to school! There was no warning to the teachers or students that the boy was on the loose with the gun! Teachers had students out in the halls which could endanger them or anyone else in the halls or even teachers and students who have their doors open! In the teacher hand book it says there is suppose to be a special waring over the intercom of the whole school but there was no warning! Everyone in the school was in danger! Dirksen is the worst Middle school in the state of Illinois! Nothing can get worse than this school! I suggest you don't send your child to this school! Send them to a school that will prepare her for you future not failure!

  • Wearing light blue tops with dark blue bottoms is prison wear. you should let these children wear whatever they feel they wanna wear. they can't even wear light or white shoes. they're wearing dark like prisoners. if you guys are scared for children to wear red, black or exotic colors under their school shirt there will always be a fight. that's life. I can tell my friends and family that you're a great school if there were no dress code but until then, I'll say bad things.

  • Dirksen is the most horrible school in the city of calumet city. Just because it is the biggest middle school in Illinois doesn't mean it is the one of the best. It is actually one the worst. You might as well call it a prison for ages 11 through 15.They wear all blue uniforms, walk in single file lines, and they are fed all kinds of mess in the cafeterias. If you ask me, don't send your child to that school
